What’s in the Box?

Base Station

The Base Station keeps your Alarm system online and connected to your mobile devices. It connects to your home network via ethernet or wi-fi and links to all your Alarm components and select third-party devices via Z-Wave. Also included are a built-in 104-decibel siren, 24-hour backup battery and optional cellular backup (with a Ring Protect Plus subscription).

The Base Station is required to activate your sensors and receive alerts, and it’s only available with the Alarm Security Kit.

Keypad

Arms and disarms your Alarm system.

The Keypad controls your Ring Alarm whenever you’re not near your phone or tablet. It features three security modes: “Disarmed” deactivates sensors, “Away” activates all sensors and “Home” activates select sensors to suit your needs.

Contact Sensor

Lets you know when doors or windows open.

Get alerts whenever a door or window opens with the Contact Sensor. Installation is easy—simply mount it to any door or window frame in your home to stay secure.

Motion Detector

Detects motion inside your home.

What is the Ring Alarm Security Kit?

The Ring Alarm Security Kit is a DIY home security system that works on any house or apartment. It comes with a Base Station, Contact Sensor, Motion Detector, Keypad and Range Extender.

Ring Alarm is simple enough to install without any tools or professional installation. Simply place the Contact Sensor on any door or window in your home, and you’ll get an alert on your phone and tablet when it opens. You can also place the Motion Detector in any room of your home, and you’ll get a mobile alert when motion is detected.

Do I have to purchase the kit? Or can I buy it piece-by-piece?

The Ring Alarm Security Kit comes with everything you need to protect your home. The Base Station controls your entire Alarm system and is only available with the Security Kit.

Additional Contact Sensors, Motion Detectors, Keypads, Range Extenders and future Ring Alarm components can be purchased separately to expand the coverage of your system. These will connect with the Base Station at your home to protect your entire property.

How do I sign up for 24/7 professional monitoring?

You can sign up for 24/7 professional monitoring by purchasing a Ring Protect Plus Plan. Ring Protect Plus also gives you cellular backup, video recording and sharing for unlimited Ring Doorbells and Cameras at your home, extended warranties and exclusive discounts.

All Ring Alarm Security Kits come with a free 30-day trial of Ring Protect Plus. After that you can opt-in for only $10 a month or $100 a year.

Currently, Ring Alarm and the professional monitoring service are available only within the U.S. (excluding American Samoa, Guam, Northern Mariana Islands, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands) and Canada (excluding Quebec).

How do I control Ring Alarm?

You can easily arm and disarm your system with the free Ring App, which works with iOS and Android devices. You can also use the Keypad if you’re indoors and not near your phone or tablet. Ring Alarm offers you three Security Modes to control your system:

  • Away activates your entire system.
  • Disarmed deactivates your system.
  • Home activates select sensors to fit your needs
Do I need to get a permit?

If you have signed up for 24/7 professional monitoring, you may need a permit to dispatch emergency services. After signing up for Ring Protect Plus, you’ll get an email from our dedicated Permits Team so you can have everything you need to apply for your permit. In some cases, our team will handle the entire permitting process, but for others, we’ll walk you through every step to help you get your permit as quickly as possible.

What happens if the power or internet goes out?

Ring Alarm comes with a 24-hour backup battery that kicks in whenever the power at home goes out. You can also get cellular backup with a Ring Protect Plus Plan so your system can stay online during an outage.

Does Ring Alarm offer professional monitoring for commercial businesses?

No. Ring Alarm is licensed only for residential use at this time.
